Meet SHW Founders
We married in 2002, hard to believe it has been so long, we still have so much fun together!
We started Simple Maui Wedding in 2009 when we realized Maui was missing a company that made weddings simple, modern, and stress-free. Fast forward to 2022—after spending time on the Big Island, we knew its gorgeous beaches and venues needed to be part of our wedding ʻohana. That’s when Simple Hawaiʻi Wedding expanded to include the Big Island!
Karma runs the day-to-day (she’s also the founder of Karma Hill Photography, our amazing photo team), and Steve is our marketing wizard who probably helped you find us online. Since relocating from Seattle to Maui in 2006, we’ve raised our two children here and are grateful to call Hawaiʻi home.
We’ve built a dream team of local Big Island vendors and employees who help bring every celebration to life in partnership with our award-winning planning team.
We love the Big Island’s magic (and yes, Steve’s pretty thrilled about the excuse to play more world-class golf). We can’t wait to share it with couples like you!
Karma & Steve
John leads the planning team with over 20 years of experience in the Hawaii Wedding industry. He is assisted by Mira our wedding coordinator who is an eagle eye for detail and ensures everything is perfect before your big day.
John is a classically trained chef, world traveler and passionate special events professional. He enjoys entertaining at home and spending time at the beach.
Mira loves gardening and cultivating her succulents, hiking and spending time at the beach with friends and her golden retriever when she is not creating the perfect wedding day for our clients.
Our onsite team of coordinators, Kalinda and Danielle are the people who make your day run smoothly. They are fabulous at what they do and they will keep you stress free and smiling! They will be your best friend, make sure there is no food in your teeth and your future mother-in-law is happy.

Our photographers, Karma, Pomaika'i, Tetiana, Anita and Aumrae are on the Karma Hill Photography Team, the exclusive provider of our photography services. All of our photographers are kind, fun, talented and will make you feel comfortable in front of the camera! Our team uses Hawaii's gorgeous natural light and creates unique images that will help you remember the magic that happened on your wedding day.
Brooke is our Photography Director of Operations and the mastermind behind making sure your photos look absolutely perfect! She’s joined by our editing pros, Lera and Isa, who make sure every image shines (and yes—you won’t see any speedo-wearing beachgoers sneaking into your shots!)
