View recent weddings at some of the most beautiful wedding venues Big Island has to offer, including Four Seasons Hualalai, Fairmont Orchid, Mauna Lani Auberge, and Waikoloa resorts. These posts give you an inside look at how couples have celebrated at each location.
With photos, planning tips, and inspiration, you will see how every venue can be styled to match your vision, whether you want an oceanfront ceremony, a private garden, or a grand resort wedding.

Some love stories take their time, and Lindsay and Mark’s Big Island venue wedding is the perfect proof that the best things are worth waiting for. They first met in high school, then life carried them in different directions for 25 years. After both walked through recent divorces, fate stepped in, and what started as a friendship quickly bloomed into something much deeper.
Now, they’ve found what they were missing all along, each other. Lindsay, a veterinarian for 16 years, and Mark, who works in supply chain management (and competes in USPSA shooting), share a love for golf, hunting, travel, and spending time with family. They even have a bucket list to play golf in all 50 states, Hawaii included. So when their big day arrived, we were beyond pleased to bring their dream wedding to life!

A small, intimate wedding felt right for them, so they chose the Fairmont Orchid on the Big Island, a place where soft white sand, swaying palms, and the ocean’s edge created the perfect backdrop for their ceremony. That’s what’s so special about venues on the Big Island; you can have a sand in the toes experience with chairs on the beach for your guests. And to top it off, a stunning arch too! It’s really the best of both worlds…a beach and venue wedding in one! Surrounded by family and close friends, Lindsay and Mark promised forever in a setting that felt as relaxed and genuine as their love. It was picture-perfect at every angle…

And then came their newlywed portraits and dance! As the golden light spilled across the dance floor on the sand, we stole a few quiet moments just for the two of them. Mark looked every bit the proud, beaming groom, and Lindsay was radiant, her smile brighter than the Hawaiian sun. The way they laughed together, the way they held each other, it was the kind of joy you can’t pose, only capture. The setting couldn’t have been more romantic!
When the sun dipped further, they slipped away to the ocean, strolling by the water and the iconic Big Island lava rocks. The lava rocks, the sea, and the fading sunlight framed them perfectly, creating images that feel as timeless as their love story.

Congratulations, Lindsay and Mark! Your wedding was as incredible as your journey, and it was an honor to capture a day so full of love, laughter, and the beauty of second chances!

Let’s start with the facts: fifteen years of marriage is a big deal. Like, standing ovation, extra slice of cake, hug-your-person-a-little-tighter kind of big. And for Brandon and Catherine, that milestone deserved more than just a nice dinner out. It called for something meaningful and a Big Island vow renewal. Something sun-soaked and heart-forward. Something,

Let’s set the scene for a special Big Island venue wedding: salty ocean breeze, lush tropical foliage, and a love story that began in the most delightfully nerdy of ways, college lab partners at Texas Tech University. Piper and Kollen weren’t just working on chemistry experiments; they were becoming the experiment. (Spoiler: it totally worked.)

After years of friendship that slowly turned into late-night talks, desert hikes, and joint dog-parenting duties (shoutout to Maggie and Molly), Kollen proposed to Piper in Sedona in November 2024. It was romantic. It was heartfelt. And it was 100% them. So when it came time to plan their wedding, they wanted something equally meaningful and a little outside the box. Hawaii was calling.

For Piper, who had been to Maui before, Hawaii felt like a dreamy return. For Kollen, it was his first time ever seeing the islands, and he stepped into it not just as a visitor, but as a groom. Their venue, Outrigger Kona Resort, brought the wow with sweeping ocean views, emerald lawns, and a gentle sea breeze that felt like this is your beginning.

Keep reading to see more of their big day!

The ceremony unfolded under a canopy of trees at Outrigger Kona Resort, with guests dressed in tropical florals, a teary groom waiting (barely holding it together), and Piper glowing in an effortlessly elegant gown. Laughter mingled with lei-scented air. The kiss? Movie-worthy. The bridal party? Playful and joyful (yes, we’re obsessed with the “everyone-cover-your-eyes” photo). And the portraits in the white gazebo? Just chef’s kiss.
It was the kind of wedding that felt light and vibrant and warm all the way through. A day soaked in sunshine and deep connection, just like their relationship. Piper and Kollen, two science-loving souls who found their perfect formula in each other, now have the start of a new adventure, this time, as husband and wife.

And after the “I do” and a celebratory kiss that got an audible aww from their guest? It was portrait time.
Cue: swoony newlywed moments in and around the resort’s white gazebo, surrounded by bold tropical foliage that felt straight out of a botanical fairy tale. Kollen pulled Piper close as they twirled between banana leaves and ti plants, kissed under the gazebo roof like a movie finale, and wandered down to the lava rock shoreline, where the light played off the ocean in soft, cinematic blues. The contrast of that striking black lava with the soft romance of her dress and bouquet? Just gorgeous!
It was tropical and elegant, emotional and joy-filled —a celebration of not only where their story began but also where it was heading next. And if you ask us? These two are just getting started.

Congratulations, you two! It was a joy to bring your dream wedding day to life! We wish you nothing but love and joy in your bright future ahead! You two are made for each other!

Oh, but is there anything more romantic than running barefoot into the waves with the person who just became your forever, the Big Island sun sinking low and golden behind you? Because that’s exactly how Jerry and Lacey sealed their “I do’s,” and if you’re already picturing the movie scene version, good. Because that’s what

Some love stories don’t begin with fireworks, they begin with baseball, Bumble, and the unexpected magic of second chances.
Opal and Grantley’s Big Island venue wedding at the Royal Kona Resort was more than just a ceremony. It was the celebration of two hearts and two families becoming one. Grant, the proud owner of Papa’s Plumbing (and a man who is seriously into fishing), met Opal online back in 2019. Opal, a rockstar at EBMUD and full-time MVP mom, knew early that this love felt different. Deeper. Steadier. Forever.
And their wedding? Let’s just say: it was absolutely perfect.

Set on the stunning shores of the Big Island, the same place they fell in love with on their first-ever Hawaii trip earlier this year, Opal and Grant looked like a couple straight out of a love story. Opal was radiant in white, glowing with happiness. Grant was cool, collected, and clearly smitten, his smile said everything. His eyes lit up when he saw her! And if you’re wondering just how romantic Grant is, he proposed on the baseball diamond, at home plate, in front of their whole community!
But the best part? The kids. Opal’s kids Olivia (16), Connor (10), and Grant’s twins, August and Scarlett (9), stood proudly beside them. This wasn’t just a wedding, it was a blending of families, a declaration of unity, and a tribute to the love they all share.

Their oceanfront ceremony at Nohea Point at the Royal Kona Resort was nothing short of breathtaking. Tucked beneath swaying palms and fronting the sparkling blue Pacific, the setting felt like it had been plucked from a postcard and handed directly to them, protected, peaceful, and intimate, yet buzzing with joy from their beloved family and friends.
From the gorgeous tropical florals to the peaceful privacy, their wedding day was intimate, emotional, and filled with island magic. For two people who cherish fishing and family above all else, this ceremony was the perfect beginning to their happily ever after. Their ceremony was full of tradition, blessings, and most of all, an unwavering devotion to one another.

And let’s talk about those photos! The kiss under the thatched-roof hale with the ocean glowing behind them? Honestly, that image alone might power the Big Island for a week. The way Grant gently kissed Opal’s forehead, the sweet giggles, the bouquet bursting with island color, it all felt like the perfect culmination of their love story

From the sea breeze to the joy on their kids’ faces, this Big Island wedding was full of heart, laughter, and island sunshine. Opal and Grant’s “forever” is just beginning, and it couldn’t have started in a more magical way. Congratulations, you two!

Jennifer and James’ Big Island elopement was a beautiful blend of love, family, and the ocean—a perfect match for Jennifer, an avid scuba diver! Let’s be real—Matthew and Melissa’s Big Island venue wedding at the Royal Kona Resort? Absolute perfection. Picture this: golden sunset light, palm trees whispering sweet nothings, and two ridiculously adorable humans pledging forever.

Matthew strolled down that tropical aisle like he owned the place (which, let’s be honest, he kind of did). Arm-in-arm with his mother, rocking a blue suit that should be illegal? Yeah, Melissa never stood a chance.

And then—oh, then—Melissa appeared. White gown. Bouquet of dreams. Dad on her arm. Matthew’s face? Priceless. If his smile got any wider, we’d have to call a dentist.

Beneath a breezy tropical gazebo (take that, boring chapels), these two said “I do” with the Pacific roaring its approval. The officiant’s Hawaiian attire? Absolutely perfect. Melissa’s smile? Outshining the Hawaiian sun – which, let’s be honest, couldn’t compete.

Big Island wedding venues don’t get more cinematic than this. Royal Kona Resort offered towering palms, a thatched gazebo, and front-row seats for the Pacific—a trifecta for destination wedding venues Big Island couples crave. (Take notes, Pinterest.)

Matthew draped a white orchid flower lei over Melissa’s shoulders. She countered with a ti leaf lei for him. It was basically floral armor for their hearts. Cue the awwws.

Matthew slid that ring on Melissa’s finger like it was his life’s mission. Her smile? Soft. The ocean’s soundtrack hypnotically romantic.

Their lips met. Guests cheered. Somewhere, a palm tree sighed enviously. It was the kind of kiss that makes you believe in love. And in destination wedding magic.

Hand in hand, they floated back down the aisle. Newlywed glow? Check. Ocean backdrop? Check. Guests blinking back happy tears? Absolutely!

The groomsmen hoisted Matthew like he’d just won the Super Bowl. His thumbs-up? Iconic. Their laughter? Contagious. The photographer’s shutter finger? Overworked.

Melissa and her squad laughed on the lawn, champagne dresses glowing, bouquets popping. It was part fashion shoot, part lovefest—100% frame-worthy.

Melissa stood on the perfectly manicured lawn at the Royal Kona Resort, looking like she’d casually stepped out of a bridal magazine. Her gown? Effortlessly romantic, like the dress version of a Taylor Swift love song. She held a bouquet of crisp white blooms—simple, elegant, and very “I woke up like this.”

Melissa and Matthew stood in their sunlit ceremony space, the ocean shimmering gently behind them. Beside the thatched altar, still echoing their vows, they shared the sweetest kiss. It was tender, unhurried—like the world had given them this moment to just be. Surrounded by swaying palms and the soft rustle of the breeze, they looked completely at home in love.

They walked hand in hand, like two people who just found out their favorite person felt the exact same way. Melissa’s dress flowed like a love song, and Matthew looked at her like she’d hung the moon. Everything about this moment screamed forever—and maybe a little bit of “how did we get this lucky?”

Matthew and Melissa, thank you for choosing Simple Hawaii Wedding to bring your Big Island wedding at the Royal Kona Resort to life. From your heartfelt vows under the gazebo to that sweet lei exchange, every moment was full of meaning. We’re so grateful to have been part of such a beautiful beginning—mahalo and cheers to what’s next!

With their two adorable children, Greyson and Freya, by their side, they celebrated one of the biggest moments of their lives! We were honored they entrusted Simple Hawaii Wedding for their special day. Keep reading to see how their day unfolded!

And what’s even better they were all right on the sand! The Royal Kona Resort provided the perfect backdrop for their intimate gathering, with its picturesque views and tranquil ambiance setting the stage for a day they would never forget.

As Mariah walked down the aisle, radiant in her lace gown, and Jason stood waiting with a big smile. Beforehand, they told us they were feeling a mixture of excitement, joy, and a little bit of nerves all rolled into one! It’s totally natural to feel about a moment they have been waiting for their entire lives! Surrounded by loved ones, they exchanged vows, sealing their commitment to each other with a kiss.

Their ceremony blended tradition and personal touches beautifully, with traditional Native American elements woven throughout. These sacred rituals added a deeper layer of meaning to their union, honoring their heritage and the journey that brought them together. Naturally, there were a few tears shed during the ceremony! It meant so much to the couple to incorporate their kids and their culture with touches of aloha too. The result was just what they envisioned thanks to our fantastic team and vendors!

After the ceremony, the newlyweds took a moment to capture the day’s magic with elegant portraits by the water’s edge. Against the backdrop of the ocean, they looked positively radiant! We couldn’t be happier for them both! Mariah and Jason were so grateful for the love that surrounded them and the journey that had brought them to this very moment in paradise.

We’ve worked with a few of our talented partners to showcase its natural beauty and convenience for your special day. Toes in the sand, hair in the breeze, a sweeping ocean view – this venue has it all!
Located in the Waikoloa resort area, just north of Kona, it’s known for its world-class accommodations, excellent shopping, dining, and golf. The resort offers two beautiful locations for your ceremony: a gorgeous beach ceremony site and an oceanfront grassy lawn. While both options are stunning, we recommend the beach location for its toes-in-the-sand feel and unbeatable views. Plus, the oceanfront resort is the perfect spot for you and your guests to gather before and after the ceremony! Your guests can sit comfortably and take in the beauty of the scene…

Our incredible partner Grace Flowers Hawaii went above and beyond with the decor and florals for our styled shoot! The wispy greenery and white blooms circling the sandy altar create a fresh and beachy feel that was so unique! Whether you want a traditional or more contemporary look, our knowledge team will happily work with you both to bring your vision to life! We love to highlight seasonal and tropical blooms. But most of all, we’re always excited to try new ideas to make your wedding unforgettable…
It’s worth noting that the beach ceremony location is next to a public beach and walking path, so while it’s not a high-traffic area, there may be people nearby. Additionally, the beach can get a little windy, but we think it only adds to the romantic atmosphere! Our lovely couple, Shelly and Max, beautifully modeled some stunning floral creations by our creative floral partner, Grace Flowers Hawaii.

The Fairmont Orchid also offers an oceanfront reception area right on the beach that is simply breathtaking! Imagine exchanging vows with your toes in the sand and celebrating with friends and family amidst stunning ocean views. The oceanfront reception area is located just steps away from the beach ceremony location, making it a seamless transition for you and your guests. Plus, you can dance the night away nearby under the swaying palm trees!
The reception area is spacious enough to accommodate small weddings, offering endless possibilities for decor and layout. Whether you want a beachy bohemian ambiance or more traditional, we can work with you to create the perfect setting. And the beauty of this location speaks for itself, so minimal decor can go a long way!

One of the most impressive features of this reception location is the breathtaking view of the ocean that guests can enjoy while seated at their tables. There’s nothing more romantic than a reception with an ocean view!
Our talented creative team took advantage of the tropical setting and incorporated vibrant, tropical colors into the decor, adding to the seaside marine feel of our styled shoot. The pink plumeria table runner was especially stunning against the natural blues and greens of the ocean view. As you can see, there are endless possibilities at this location, whatever your style and vision! One thing is for sure, it’s the perfect setting for a picture-perfect wedding reception that you and your guests will never forget…

Loving what you see? We currently offer package pricing for weddings from Monday to Thursday and within 90 days. However, we also accommodate bookings for further out dates and weekends with an additional site fee and a food and beverage minimum with the resort. This allows our clients to have more flexibility when planning their special day…after all, we’re all for stress-free planning!
In addition to the Hawaii wedding packages pricing, it’s important to note that a three-night stay is required for the wedding couple, but the price is not included in the package. This is an opportunity for the couple to enjoy the luxurious amenities and stunning views that the Fairmont Orchid has to offer and to fully immerse themselves in the Hawaiian experience!

After your ceremony, you can take advantage of all the natural splendor around the property! One of the most stunning features of this location is the waterfall. Set amidst lush greenery, the waterfall provides a natural and romantic backdrop for stunning photos. The soft, flowing water cascading down adds a serene and tranquil feeling to these portraits from our styled shoot!
Another highlight is the lava rock beach just below the reception area. The rough, jagged rocks create a striking contrast with the crystal clear waters, making it a unique and unforgettable setting for your newlywed portraits. And we can’t forget to mention that it’s the perfect spot for capturing some romantic sunset portraits too!

We would like to extend a heartfelt mahalo to our wonderful partners who made the styled shoot at the Fairmont Orchid possible. Your creativity, expertise, and attention to detail helped us bring our vision to life. We couldn’t have done it without you! The lush greenery and rolling hills in the surrounding area create a serene and peaceful atmosphere, making it the picturesque location to say “I do.” Although there is no sandy beach access, there are plenty of little pockets for photo opportunities around the property. Maria’s Floral enhanced the tropical beauty of the setting by using a fresh white and green color palette for our styled shoot! It looked so modern and elegant with the orchids and pastel anthuriums…

The variety and flexibility of this Big Island wedding venue are just a few reasons why we love this venue. If you’re worried about unpredictable weather, the white chapel nearby provides a beautiful rain backup option. Moreover, it also offers a more traditional wedding ceremony setting. This beautifully designed chapel offers a quaint and intimate feel that is perfect for smaller weddings or elopements. Even if it’s a rainy day, you still feel like you’re outside with the big windows overlooking the ocean. The chapel’s design and creamy white interiors make it a versatile location for any type of wedding theme or style.
The white and fresh tropical color palette used throughout this styled shoot only accentuated the airy nature of the chapel!
